All American Pharmaceutical to Field Karbolyn® Clinical Study Led by Former Mayo Clinic Physician

All American Pharmaceutical to field KarboLyn Clinical Study

BILLINGS, Montana – All American Pharmaceutical & Natural Foods Corporation (AAP) today announced a significant step forward in the scientific validation of its proprietary carbohydrate, KarboLyn®. The upcoming 2014 clinical study will be led by Dr. Thomas Harman, a former chairman of the Family Medicine Department at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

The study, titled “A Placebo-Controlled Double-Blind Pilot Study: Blood Sugar Response to KarboLyn® or a Glucose Drink during Aerobic Activity,” will examine how this novel homopolysaccharide mixture affects glucose response in both normal and pre-diabetic adults during aerobic exercise.

Why This Matters: The Pre-Diabetes Challenge

According to the National Diabetes Education Program, in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), approximately 79 million adults aged 20 and older in the United States have pre-diabetes—a condition that significantly increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Research has consistently shown that lifestyle interventions, including weight loss and increased physical activity, can prevent or delay the progression from pre-diabetes to diabetes.

This study explores whether KarboLyn® may play a supportive role in that equation.

From Elite Athletics to Broader Applications

KarboLyn® was initially developed with a specific purpose: to help elite athletes effectively load muscle glucose before workouts and avoid the energy “burn-out” or “crash” often associated with high-intensity aerobic activity. Its unique molecular structure allows it to behave differently from standard sugar solutions, providing sustained energy without the sharp spikes and drops.

“We already know KarboLyn® behaves somewhat differently than the standard ‘sugar solution’ when consumed by normal adults before athletic workouts,” explained Jeff Golini, CEO and executive scientist at All American Pharmaceutical. “In addition to examining glucose response in normal individuals during aerobic activity, this research will tell us whether KarboLyn® may also have a unique and beneficial impact on pre-diabetics—opening the door to entirely new applications.”

World-Class Scientific Leadership

The involvement of Dr. Thomas Harman underscores the seriousness of this research. As a former chairman of the Family Medicine Department at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Harman brings decades of clinical expertise and a rigorous, evidence-based approach to the study design and interpretation. His leadership ensures that the resulting data will meet the highest standards of medical credibility.

The study is scheduled to be fielded in summer 2014, with healthy and pre-diabetic adults participating in the controlled trial.

A Commitment to Research and Innovation

This clinical study is just one part of All American Pharmaceutical’s broader commitment to advancing nutritional science.

“We are committed to more research and development in the coming months and years,” said Golini. “Our pipeline of products is strategically poised to impact a number of fields in the 21st century. We are slowly ramping up research geared toward examining the impact of our proprietary products on various physiological conditions—from the athletic industry to healthcare.”

Golini noted that the definition of an “athlete” has expanded considerably in recent years. “Today’s athletes come in all shapes and physiological types. We want to know how our products are going to impact a broad range of users.”
